Benchmark Assessment

Spend 20 hours in a self-contained setting that serves individuals with emotional disabilities. During this time, note instructional practices and behavior interventions that appear to be effective and ineffective when working with students with emotional disabilities. Also, observe the various systems for behavior modification (their purpose, the way in which they are operated/enforced, etc).Make a three-column chart with the following column headings:  Observation, Reflection, and Recommendation. Using your notes from your practicum experience, complete the columns according to the following:

In the Observation column, explain what you observed in terms of instructional practice, behavior interventions and modifications, and systems. Be thorough and complete in your observations. In the Reflection column, write your reflection in terms of whether or not you believe this instruction, behavior, or system is effective. Do this for each observation you make. Support your opinion with information you have gained from this course (lecture, text, discussion, etc.). In the Recommendation column, discuss what you would recommend in terms of improving that which you observed (be specific). Use the course lectures, readings, and discussion forum to inform this recommendation.APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

1. Assignment 1 -Essay
You are required to write a 2000 word essay or report in the form of a critical analysis. The work is to anlayse the impact of training and development of employees on the development of a positive, results-driven culture.
“The impacts of corporate training, development and up skilling on the creation of a positive, results-driven corporate culture” is the position you are assessing. Is it true? Does training change corporate culture and employee behavior or is this wishful thinking on the part of organizational culture experts?
The work will require at least 10 references and must lead to conclusions on your part with regard to the statement above. You are essentially critiquing and assessing this statement with the use of existing research and the application of your own view. The use of training and development theories and organizational behavior theories is expected. You can select one or more companies to base your analysis on or you may wish to approach the assignment from a generic perspective by not specifying a particular company.

Deciding to eat ethically

One of the most important aspects of examining the world is through self-reflection. As we have new experience and confront new perspectives, our old views begin to change. It is worth taking time to identify how these changes came about and examine the impact this understanding might have to the general public.

Attending St. Edward’s probably represented a major shift from your previous life. Examine a concept or issue that has altered in your time at school, whether it was in or outside of class. This can be either universal or personal. Establish what concept you will be talking about in particular. What was your previous understanding and how has it subsequently changed or deepened? How did it change? Make an argument for its significance to you and why.

Note the prompt for this question allows for the use of first person. Write this as an argumentative paper, critically analyzing why this reflection is important, to you and the larger audience.

Saade and Critical Thinking

Saade et al. (2012) describe critical thinking as the mental processes of discernment, analysis, and evaluation applied to information in order to achieve a logical final understanding and/or judgment. Describe your approach to breaking down information into component parts to better understand the characteristics of a statement, concept, or problem. How might outlining help to develop understanding? How do you know when to reach beyond previous experience and seek out other sources of information to enhance your understanding of the work in front of you?

Organizational Culture

You need to identify an organization of your choice to work with for this project, and then you will use the same organization for the Change Model Project.

The primary purpose of this project is to give you hands-on experience with organizational culture assessment. The project will involve doing fieldwork using semi-structured interviews to examine and define an organization’s cultural values and describe how their culture affects the way they operate and perform their objectives. The secondary purpose of the project is to start thinking about whether the organization needs a culture change, and how that can be achieved.

You will choose and contact an organization for this project. You should pick your organization as soon as possible, as it will take time to arrange interviews. You will conduct interviews with at least three (3) members of the organization but preferably five (5); these people should be in an administrative or managerial capacity. Based on this data and the frameworks included in course material, you will identify the culture of this organization. You can choose any kind and size of organization that is interesting to you. You can collect data through phone interviews and electronic communication tools. However, I would recommend face-to-face interaction for the majority of the interviews and information gathering.

You will ask 10 questions; the first six are required, and then you may choose the last four from a list of questions provided, from internet sources, or choose your own. Be sure to indicate which additional questions you asked. You must ask the same questions of every interviewee.

Your project report should be addressed to the senior management of the organization. The analysis should cover:
1. Executive summary (this is similar to an abstract and explains what the report is about, i.e. it should be a summary of your findings) – ½ to one page long). 10 points
2. Brief description of the organization and reasons for choosing this organization 10 points
3. Brief description of the participants interviewed 10 points
4. Critical analysis of the culture. Remember, organizational culture represents the basic assumptions, values, and norms of the organization; it is “how things are done around here.” Be sure to include which questions you asked, how you analyzed your data, and how you came up with your conclusions. Provide examples or direct quotes from your data to illustrate your points. 60 points

Undergraduate students – 4-6 pages of text plus a title page and reference page, all APA style. (10 points)

Graduate students ONLY – 6-8 pages of text plus a title page and reference page, all APA style. At least 6 scholarly references on culture change assessment should be included and cited in the paper. (10 points)

Moral Theology

Read this from the website of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: “Care for God’s Creation — We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan, it is a requirement of our faith. We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation. This environmental challenge has fundamental moral and ethical dimensions that cannot be ignored.” We know that many people are interested in protecting wildlife, recycling, moving the renewable energy resources, etc. However, do you agree that “care for the earth” is a “requirement” for the faithful Christian? If so, why? If not, why not?
